Willamette Heritage Center, Oregon, United States

History Museum

The Willamette Heritage Center in Salem, Oregon, serves as a five-acre living history museum that preserves and shares the Mid-Willamette Valley's past through fourteen historic structures, including the oldest wooden frame houses in the Pacific Northwest like the 1841 Jason Lee House and Methodist Parsonage, plus the 1847 John D. Boon House and 1858 Pleasant Grove Church relocated from pioneer sites.

At its heart stands the 1896 Thomas Kay Woolen Mill, a National Park Service American Treasure that operated until 1962 and powered Pendleton Woolen Mills' legacy, featuring exhibits on wool processing, waterpower from Mill Creek, and early industrialization with original machinery on display.

Formed in 2010 from the merger of the Mission Mill Museum and Marion County Historical Society, the nonprofit site also offers a research library, archives, textile classes, changing exhibits on Kalapuya Indigenous history and Oregon Trail settlers, self-guided tours, shops, artist studios, and event spaces.
