Park
Agate Beach State Recreation Site is an 18-acre day-use state park in Lincoln County, Oregon, USA, situated between Newport and Yaquina Head along U.S. Highway 101, renowned for its wide sandy beach ideal for hunting colorful agates, razor clam digging, and surfing.
Acquired by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department in 1969 from the Lincoln County Development Company after litigation, it provides free year-round access via a tunnel under the old highway from a spacious parking lot accommodating trailers, with picnic tables, restrooms, and paths leading to tide pools, kite flying spots, birdwatching areas, and stunning ocean views near the Yaquina Head Lighthouse.
Popular with about 190,000 annual visitors for beachcombing, photography, and family outings, dogs are welcome on leash while visitors should heed tides and sneaker waves for safety.
