Park
Alum Creek State Park spans 4,630 acres in Delaware County, Ohio, just north of Columbus, centered on the 3,387-acre Alum Creek Reservoir built from 1970-1974 for flood control on a Scioto River tributary.
Boasting Ohio's largest inland beach at 3,000 feet, it offers swimming, boating, water skiing, fishing for bass and walleye, ice activities in winter, plus 38 miles of bridle trails, over 30 miles of mountain biking paths, hiking, disc golf, a dog park, picnicking, and 289 family campsites amid beech-maple forests with wildflowers like trillium.
Established in 1976 by Ohio DNR, the park preserves remnants of a freed slaves' settlement from North Carolina and diverse wildlife including deer, squirrels, and birds in rolling hills and quiet coves open year-round with no entrance fee.
