Named for cave-like rock openings thought to shelter black bears, it features massive Pottsville sandstone boulders, overhanging cliffs, deep crevices resembling town streets, and lush hemlock forests shaped by wind, water, and erosion over millions of years.
Acquired in 1970 through the Nature Conservancy and dedicated to Vietnam War casualty Ronald Keith Neal, this day-use park offers a half-mile boardwalk trail with interpretive markers highlighting geological wonders, plus picnic areas, open April through October from 7 a.m. to dusk near Droop Mountain Battlefield State Park.
