Originally, it was the estate of wealthy individuals including Hanson Robinson and later the du Pont family, with the centerpiece being Bellevue Hall, a mansion remodeled to resemble the historic Montpelier estate. The park features a range of recreational facilities including a horse track now used for walking and running, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, stables, gardens, and a catch-and-release fishing pond surrounded by a 1.125-mile fitness track.
