Park
Blue Springs State Park is a compact 103-acre public recreation area in Blue Springs, Barbour County, Alabama, about 7 miles east of Clio, centered around a striking natural underground spring that pumps 3,600 gallons of crystal-clear, 68°F water per minute into two concrete-ringed octagonal swimming pools ideal for cooling off year-round.
Established in 1963 after the state acquired the land, it expanded in 2013 with 100 adjoining acres from the Forever Wild Land Trust, adding the 2.1-mile Magnolia Trail loop through pine forests, mesic slopes, mountain laurel, and stream floodplains for easy to moderate hiking and birdwatching.
The park also provides 47 modern campsites (seven with full sewer hookups), tent areas, three rental cabins, picnic shelters with grills and tables, a playground, a small fishing lake, and access to the spring's outflow into the Choctawhatchee River, making it a peaceful family spot amid southeast Alabama's woodlands.
