Park
Booker T. Washington State Park covers 353 acres on a hilly peninsula in Chickamauga Lake near Chattanooga, Tennessee, established in 1938 as one of the state's first parks for African Americans, built largely by Civilian Conservation Corps workers.
Leased from the Tennessee Valley Authority and later purchased by the state, it offers six miles of hiking and mountain biking trails through rolling forests, a swimming pool open Memorial Day to Labor Day, picnic shelters, playgrounds, fishing piers, boat ramps, and a group campground with lodge.
Visitors enjoy boating, paddling, wildlife viewing including bald eagles and waterfowl, basketball courts, and its convenient location close to downtown attractions.
