Park
Brunet Island State Park covers over 1,300 acres where the Fisher River meets the Chippewa River just north of Cornell in Chippewa County, northwestern Wisconsin, featuring a 169-acre island amid quiet lagoons, glacial rolling landscapes, large eastern hemlock trees, and abundant wildlife like deer, beavers, otters, herons, and warblers.
Shaped by the Wisconsin glaciation, it offers canoeing and kayaking in backwater channels, a swimming beach on the 897-acre Cornell Flowage, fishing, over eight miles of hiking trails including segments of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail and Old Abe State Trail, picnic areas, playgrounds, two family campgrounds with electric sites for tents and RVs, and groomed winter trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
