Park
Cape Lookout State Park is a scenic coastal park in Tillamook County, Oregon, USA, situated on a sand spit between Netarts Bay and the Pacific Ocean, about 12 miles southwest of Tillamook along the Three Capes Scenic Route.
Formed from ancient 16-million-year-old Grand Ronde Basalt lava flows, it features a 1.5-mile-long promontory with sheer 400-foot cliffs, over eight miles of hiking trails like the 5-mile Cape Trail through Sitka spruce forests to panoramic viewpoints for whale watching, seabirds, sea lions, and distant Cascade peaks, plus beachcombing for sand dollars and glass floats on a 3-mile sandy stretch.
The park offers year-round camping with 38 full-hookup RV sites, 170 tent sites, 13 yurts, six deluxe cabins, group areas, hot showers, flush toilets, picnic spots, and a meeting hall, though a 2026 construction project will upgrade dunes, electrical, water systems, and day-use facilities funded by state bonds.
