Opened in April 1997 about 15 miles southeast of Hazard, it offers boating, fishing, swimming, and watersports from a full-service marina with rentals, slips, snack bar, and docks amid historic pioneer settlements dating to the 1770s. Visitors enjoy a 39-site campground with water and electric hookups, picnic areas, playground, horseshoe pits, and wildlife viewing of wood ducks, herons, turkey, and marsh species in this unusual eastern Kentucky wetland.
