Park
Cedar Hill State Park is a 1,826‑acre Texas state park located along the eastern shore of Joe Pool Lake in the city of Cedar Hill, about 30 minutes from the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex in North Texas.
The park sits at the meeting point of the Cross Timbers and the Blackland Prairie, giving it a mix of rugged limestone hills, cedar‑oak woodland, and rare tallgrass prairie remnants that feel more like the Hill Country than a big‑city suburb. Visitors enjoy hiking and mountain biking on more than 4 miles of standard trails plus a large network of DORBA‑maintained mountain‑bike routes, along with fishing, boating, swimming, picnicking, and camping on a wooded lakeshore.
The park also includes the Penn Farm Agricultural Center, a historic 19th‑century farm with buildings and guided tours, plus over 350 mostly wooded campsites, making it one of the most visited and family‑friendly urban‑edge state parks in Texas.
