Detroit Lake State Recreation Area is a forested campground with nearly 300 sites along a nine-mile reservoir in the Cascade Mountains of Marion County, central Oregon, USA, about 46 miles southeast of Salem near the town of Detroit.
Created by the 1953 Detroit Dam on the North Santiam River for flood control and recreation, it offers boating, fishing, water skiing, swimming beaches, two boat ramps, moorages, a fishing dock, horseshoe pits, basketball, volleyball, playgrounds, showers, flush toilets, firewood sales, and accessible sites amid views of snow-capped Mt. Jefferson.
Year-round activities include winter snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing on its 32-mile shoreline surrounded by second-growth Douglas fir.
