Dousman's Mill, formerly known as Historic Mill Creek State Park, spans 625 acres in Mackinaw City, Michigan, five miles southeast of town on U.S. Highway 23, preserving one of the oldest industrial sites on the Upper Great Lakes.
Built around 1790 by Robert Campbell to supply lumber for Mackinac Island and Fort Mackinac, the sawmill operated until 1839 under Michael Dousman's ownership from 1819, harnessing Mill Creek's water power with a reconstructed dam and pit saw demonstrations today.
Managed by Mackinac State Historic Parks and open seasonally from May through October, it offers guided programs on fur trade history, naturalist-led North Woods exhibits, and 3.5 miles of groomed hiking trails through wetlands and forests abundant in wildflowers and wildlife.
