Park
General Butler State Resort Park spans 791 acres in Carroll County, Kentucky, near Carrollton at the unique confluence of the Ohio and Kentucky Rivers.
Established in 1931 on the historic Butler family farm—named for General William O. Butler, a War of 1812 and Mexican-American War hero—it features Civilian Conservation Corps-built stone structures including a 53-room hilltop lodge with pool, 24 cottages, and a 111-site campground.
The park offers over five miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking through wildflower meadows and woodlands, fishing and paddle-boating on 30-acre Butler Lake, the preserved 1859 Butler-Turpin Greek Revival mansion open for tours, panoramic river views from stone overlooks, picnic areas, mini-golf, and proximity to the Lewis and Clark Trail.
