Greenwood Furnace State Park spans 423 acres in Jackson Township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, on the western edge of the Seven Mountains near Pennsylvania Route 305, about 20 miles south of State College.
Centered around historic Greenwood Furnace—a 19th-century iron-making village with remnants like furnace stacks, a blacksmith shop, ironmaster's mansion, stables, church, cemetery, and charcoal hearths—the park preserves this industrial ghost town acquired by the state in 1906 for a tree nursery that operated until 1993.
It features 6-acre Greenwood Lake stocked with trout for fishing and ice fishing, a campground, sandy beach, swimming, picnicking, hiking trails, and access to backpacking, mountain biking, and hunting in adjacent 80,000-acre Rothrock State Forest.
