Herrington Manor State Park is a 365‑acre Maryland state park in Garrett County, about four miles north of Oakland, nestled within Garrett State Forest in the western part of the state.
The heart of the park is 53‑acre Herrington Lake, a man‑made lake created by damming Herrington Creek with help from the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, which supports swimming, boating, fishing, and paddling in the warmer months.
The park offers year‑round recreation with 20 furnished log cabins, picnic areas, playgrounds, tennis and volleyball courts, and miles of wooded trails that are used for hiking and biking in summer and cross‑country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling in winter, making it a quiet, family‑oriented mountain‑lake retreat close to Deep Creek Lake and Swallow Falls State Park.
