Park
Lake Corpus Christi State Park spans 365 acres in San Patricio, Jim Wells, and Live Oak counties, Texas, about four miles southwest of Mathis along Park Road 25 off State Highway 359, leased from the City of Corpus Christi since 1934 with facilities built by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Situated on the shores of the expansive 21,000-acre Lake Corpus Christi—formed by damming the Nueces River—it offers boating, fishing for largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, and sunfish from piers and ramps, swimming beaches, paddling, and birdwatching amid post-oak woodlands and grasslands.
Visitors enjoy hiking trails, camping in RV/tent sites or screened shelters, picnicking, geocaching, ranger programs, and historical structures like boathouses and a dance terrace, drawing 161,952 people in 2022 for South Texas recreation.
