Park
Lockhart State Park spans 263.7 acres along Clear Fork of Plum Creek in Caldwell County, Texas, about 4 miles south of Lockhart via U.S. Highway 183 and Park Road 10, acquired by the state in 1934 and developed by Civilian Conservation Corps Company 3803 from 1935-1938 before officially opening in 1948.
Nestled amid elm, oak, ash, pecan trees, and rolling hills, it features Texas's only state-run 9-hole golf course, a spring-fed swimming pool, four miles of moderate hiking and biking trails through riparian zones, ravines, and bluffs, plus fishing, picnicking, playgrounds, geocaching, birdwatching, and camping in RV/tent sites with hot showers.
This quiet Central Texas retreat blends rustic CCC architecture like dams, bridges, and a hilltop refectory with natural beauty, ideal for day trips from Austin just 30 minutes north.
