Park
Matapeake Park, also known as Matapeake State Park or Matapeake Clubhouse and Public Beach, is a small Maryland state park of about 20–21 acres on Kent Island in Queen Anne’s County, right along the Chesapeake Bay shoreline near Stevensville.
The park sits on the site of a former ferry landing that once connected Kent Island to what is now Sandy Point State Park before the Chesapeake Bay Bridge opened in 1952, and the old ferry terminal building has been preserved as the Matapeake Clubhouse used for concessions and events.
The grounds include a public swimming beach, a family picnic area, an outdoor amphitheater, walking and biking trails through the surrounding woods, a dog‑friendly beach section, and a fishing pier, and it also forms the northern start of the 7‑mile South Island Trail, giving visitors easy access to bay views, casual recreation, and a touch of local transportation history.
