McVay Rock State Recreation Site is a scenic coastal state park in Curry County, extreme southwestern Oregon, USA, about 4 miles south of Brookings near the California border, offering free day-use access via a short steep trail from parking to a rocky gravel beach with sea stacks, towering cliffs, and basaltic lava formations.
Named for settler William R. McVay who arrived in 1861, it features excellent rockhounding, tidepool exploration with crabs and anemones at low tide, surf fishing, clamming, whale watching, and a large grassy lawn with a nine-hole disc golf course plus the area's only off-leash dog park.
Amenities are minimal with just an outhouse restroom, making it a quiet uncrowded spot for picnics, beach walks extendable to Winchuck River mouth or Sporthaven Beach at minus tides, and seabird viewing amid stunning ocean vistas.
