Park
Muriel O. Ponsler Memorial State Scenic Viewpoint is a small, undeveloped day-use park along Oregon's Highway 101 in Lane County, USA, about 14 miles north of Florence near the mouth of China Creek, offering easy access to roughly five miles of sandy and rocky beach flanked by Carl Washburne State Park to the south.
Donated in 1938 by J.C. Ponsler in memory of his wife Muriel, it features limited parking for a dozen cars, a few picnic tables on grassy bluffs, a short paved path through wind-sculpted shrubs to the shore, and prime spots for whale watching, beachcombing, agate hunting, clamming, fishing, storm viewing, and sunset gazing without crowds or fees.
With no restrooms or facilities beyond basics, it's a serene coastal pullout connecting to longer beaches like Big Creek to the north and Hobbit Beach to the south, enhanced by Civilian Conservation Corps improvements from the Depression era.
