Park

My Old Kentucky Home State Park is a historic park in Bardstown, Kentucky, centered on Federal Hill, a large Federal‑style mansion built in the early 1800s as the home of U.S. Senator John Rowan.

The estate sits on about 235 acres of manicured lawns, gardens, and old‑growth trees, and it is famous as the place that inspired Stephen Foster’s song “My Old Kentucky Home,” which later became Kentucky’s official state song. Visitors can tour the mansion with guides in period clothing who explain the history of the Rowan family and the antebellum South, and many tours also include a live performance of “My Old Kentucky Home.”

The park also offers picnicking, an 18‑hole golf course, an outdoor amphitheater that hosts the long‑running musical “The Stephen Foster Story” in summer, and special holiday‑season candlelight tours when the house is decorated and lit by candlelight.
