Penrose Point State Park is a 165-acre forested recreation area in Pierce County, Washington, on Mayo Cove and Carr Inlet at the southern end of Puget Sound near Lakebay.
It offers over two miles of saltwater shoreline, 2.5 miles of hiking and biking trails including a self-guided interpretive nature trail, and activities like picnicking, boating, fishing, swimming, waterskiing, clam digging, crabbing, beachcombing, birdwatching, scuba diving, and wildlife viewing with views of Mount Rainier on clear days.
The park provides more than 80 campsites without hookups for tents and RVs, modern restrooms with showers, picnic areas, a boat ramp, moorage, and dump stations, named after Stephen Penrose, former Whitman College president, and managed by Washington State Parks.
