Pine Lake State Park, Iowa, United States

Park

Pine Lake State Park covers 668 acres northeast of Eldora in Hardin County, central Iowa, USA, featuring Lower Pine Lake (50 acres) and Upper Pine Lake (69 acres) along Pine Creek flowing to the Iowa River.

Dedicated in 1926 as one of Iowa's earliest parks with Iowa's first artificial lake dammed in 1922, Civilian Conservation Corps structures from the 1930s like Pine Lodge, beach house, and stone cabins are restored and listed on the National Register.

Visitors enjoy hiking seven miles of trails through woods with rare ferns and birch trees, fishing, boating, kayaking, unsupervised swimming beach, large campground with electric sites and showers, picnic areas, and reforestation efforts replacing 250-year-old white pines lost to a 2009 hailstorm.
