A peaceful retreat with modern campground offering electric/non-electric sites, showers, playground, and youth group areas open April to October, it provides a boat ramp and shoreline fishing for catfish, paddlefish, walleye, plus public hunting for deer and waterfowl outside developed zones.

Six miles of multi-use trails wind through Loess Hills for hiking, biking, skiing, and snowmobiling, with abundant wildlife like bald eagles, snow geese, and spring morels, near Lewis and Clark's 1804 campsite and DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge.
