Park
Red Top Mountain State Park spans 1,776 acres on a peninsula jutting into 12,000-acre Lake Allatoona near Cartersville in Bartow County, northwest Georgia, USA, named for iron-rich red soil on its namesake mountain that fueled 19th-century mining.
Popular for water activities, it offers swimming beaches, boat ramps for skiing and fishing bass or catfish, plus rentals from nearby marinas amid shoreline views. Over 15 miles of trails wind through forests including the accessible 3/4-mile paved path to a reconstructed 1860s homestead and Vaughn Cabin hosting iron pour demonstrations, with the 4-mile Iron Hill Trail open to hikers and bikers.
The park provides 20 cottages, 6 yurts, 93 tent/RV campsites, a pioneer campground, picnic shelters, mini-golf, tennis, and Allatoona Pass Battlefield earthworks from the Civil War.
