Park
Roland Cooper State Park spans 236 acres on the eastern shore of the 22,000-acre Dannelly Reservoir, also called Millers Ferry, in Wilcox County, Alabama, about six miles north of Camden.
Opened in 1969 as Bridgeport State Park on land leased from the Army Corps of Engineers, it was renamed in the 1970s for state senator William Roland Cooper. The park offers cottages, modern campgrounds, boat ramps, a fishing pier, and picnic areas, renowned for bass fishing tournaments and as a stop on Alabama’s Black Belt Birding Trail with bald eagles, osprey, raptors, and songbirds amid its dark skies ideal for stargazing.
