Sequoyah State Park is a 2,200-acre peninsula on Fort Gibson Lake in Cherokee County, Oklahoma, USA, near Wagoner and Tahlequah, celebrating Cherokee heritage including Sequoyah, inventor of the Cherokee syllabary.
Established in 1953 on land leased from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers around the 19,900-acre lake fed by the Grand River, it features Oklahoma's largest state park lodge with 104 rooms, 45 cabins, a bunkhouse, 18-hole golf course, marina at Paradise Cove, Sequoyah Riding Stables, Three Forks Nature Center with animal ambassadors like coyotes and beavers, swimming pool, splash pad, rec center, playgrounds, tennis courts, sand volleyball, horseshoe pits, and 12 miles of trails including Fossil Trail with crinoid fossils and Scissortail Paved Trail.
Visitors enjoy boating, fishing bass and catfish, hiking, horseback riding, picnicking, wildlife viewing of deer and birds, and educational programs amid shortleaf pine forests and mid-century architecture.
