Park
Shepperd's Dell State Natural Area is a picturesque 519-acre canyon park in Multnomah County, Oregon, USA, located along the Historic Columbia River Highway just east of Bridal Veil Falls, about 13 miles east of Troutdale near I-84 Exit 28.
Donated in 1915 by dairy farmer George Shepperd as a memorial to his late wife Mattie, it features a stunning two-tiered waterfall on Youngs Creek—42 feet in the upper tier and 50 feet in the lower—cascading into a steep basalt gorge amid lush ferns, mosses, and old-growth trees, with a total drop reaching 220 feet including hidden upper sections.
Visitors park at the iconic 1914 arched concrete Shepperd's Dell Bridge (National Register of Historic Places), then take a short 0.2-mile paved trail with stairs down to the falls base for prime viewing, picnicking, and Gorge scenery, open daily with free access and leashed pets allowed.
