Park
Sheridan State Scenic Corridor is an 11-acre old-growth forest park in Hood River County, Oregon, USA, located west of Cascade Locks at Interstate 84 milepost 42.5, surrounded by the highway and Mount Hood National Forest.
Acquired in 1923 from a railroad company and named for General Philip H. Sheridan—who crossed the Columbia River here in 1856 to aid settlers against Yakima Indians—it preserves towering Douglas-firs, hemlocks, and ferns, now accessible via the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail opened in 1998 for foot and bicycle travel.
This triangular wayside offers short trails, picnic tables, benches, wildlife viewing, and vistas of Bonneville Dam, Bridge of the Gods, and the Gorge, serving as a peaceful historical and natural retreat without vehicle access.
