Park
Spencer Spit State Park is a 138-acre marine and camping park on the eastern shore of Lopez Island in Washington’s San Juan County, featuring two sand spits that enclose a saltwater lagoon popular with migratory waterfowl like Bonaparte's gulls, great blue herons, and kingfishers.
Named after the Spencer family who lived there from 1913 to 1967, it offers 37 standard campsites, group sites, hiker/biker areas, 12 mooring buoys on the Cascadia Marine Trail, two miles of hiking trails, picnic areas, restrooms, and rentals for kayaks and bikes. Visitors enjoy crabbing, clamming, swimming, beachcombing, fishing, diving, birdwatching, and scenic views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, accessible by ferry about 4.6 miles from the Lopez landing.
