Excavated in 1897 by Clarence Loveberry, it revealed postmolds of a 15-foot circular timber structure—the first documented example of Adena ceremonial architecture—before being covered with earth layers.
Acquired by Ohio in 1950 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this conical mound offers a quick 15-minute exterior view from a neighborhood setting, highlighting prehistoric Native American burial practices.
