Tu-Endie-Wei State Park is located at the confluence of the Kanawha and Ohio Rivers in downtown Point Pleasant, West Virginia.
The park commemorates the historic 1774 Battle of Point Pleasant, where Virginia militia led by Colonel Andrew Lewis defeated the forces of Shawnee Chief Cornstalk in a crucial conflict that some consider the first battle of the American Revolutionary War. At the center of the park is an 84-foot granite monument honoring the frontiersmen who died in this bloody, day-long fight.
The park’s name, “Tu-Endie-Wei,” means “point between two waters” in the Wyandot language, reflective of its geographic setting. The park also features the Mansion House, a 1796 log building originally built as a tavern, now preserved as a museum with original historic artifacts. Open year-round with no admission fee, the park provides scenic river views, walking paths, interpretive plaques, and educational displays, serving both as a peaceful memorial and a spot to learn about early American frontier history.
