Park
Barr Lake State Park is a 2,715‑acre Colorado state park located just outside Brighton, northeast of Denver, built around a roughly 1,950‑acre reservoir that lies at the edge of the plains.
The park’s main attraction is bird‑watching, with more than 350–370 bird species recorded, including large numbers of wintering bald eagles and one nesting pair that raises young each year near the lake. A level, 8.8‑mile multi‑use trail circles the lake, linking picnic sites, wildlife‑viewing stations, and the southern wildlife refuge, where marshes and wetlands shelter waterfowl, raptors, and other birds.
The park also offers fishing, boating (with a motor‑horsepower limit), hiking, biking, horseback riding, and, in winter, occasional ice‑fishing and snow‑based activities, but it is day‑use only with no camping.
