Park
Beavertail Hill State Park is a 65-acre recreation area in western Montana along the Clark Fork River, about 26 miles east of Missoula via Interstate 90. At 3,615 feet elevation, it offers a half-mile of river frontage ideal for carry-in boating, fishing for trout and whitefish, and floating, plus 24 developed campsites, two tipi rentals, picnic areas, and an amphitheater for interpretive programs.
A short, accessible 0.25- to 0.8-mile nature trail winds through a shaded cottonwood canopy near the campground, providing wildlife viewing and benches, though pets must be leashed and there's a park entry fee. The park operates year-round, with full access from May to October and walk-in day-use only in winter.
