Originally located in Meyers Lake Amusement Park in Canton, Ohio, it was moved to Hartford in 1974 through the efforts of the Knox Foundation and local advocates who saw it as a symbol of Hartford’s revitalization.
The carousel plays traditional Wurlitzer band organ music and offers affordable rides, making it a beloved attraction for families and visitors seeking nostalgic fun. It is one of only three Stein and Goldstein carousels still operating in the U.S., and its horses have been carefully restored to preserve their original artistry.
