Park
Eldorado Canyon State Park, established in 1978 in Boulder County south of Boulder, Colorado, covers 1,488 acres across the developed Inner Canyon and undeveloped Crescent Meadows areas, with elevations from 5,800 to 8,800 feet.
World-famous for over 1,000 technical rock climbing routes on towering sandstone cliffs up to 700 feet high, it also offers 11-17 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails like Rattlesnake Gulch to the Continental Divide Overlook, picnicking and fishing along South Boulder Creek, plus winter snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in a day-use-only setting with timed entry reservations during peak season.
Carved by South Boulder Creek amid 1.6 billion-year-old geology in the foothills transition zone, the park draws climbers, hikers, and nature lovers for its dramatic hogbacks, diverse flora-fauna, and preserved history after public outcry halted a proposed quarry.
