Park
Gardner Lake State Park is a compact 10-acre public recreation area situated on the southern shore of the 529-acre Gardner Lake in Salem, Connecticut.
Formerly a private resort for nearly 60 years, the land was acquired by the State of Connecticut in 2001 to provide public access to the water. The park is a popular destination for outdoor activities such as swimming at its beach, fishing for bass and walleye, and boating via an improved launch facility.
Because of its proximity to other regional landmarks, it serves as a convenient starting point for paddling to the nearby Minnie Island State Park, the smallest state park in Connecticut. While the park offers a peaceful setting for nature lovers and families, it is recognized as one of the few public inland swimming areas in New London County, making it an essential local resource for seasonal recreation.
