Park
Haley Farm State Park is a 267-acre public recreation area in Groton, Connecticut, that preserves a historic landscape of former Colonial-era farmland.
Originally part of a land grant to Governor John Winthrop in 1648, the site later operated as a dairy farm under Caleb Haley, whose legacy remains visible today in the miles of massive stone walls that cross the property. The park was saved from development and established in 1970 through the dedicated efforts of local organizations, including the Groton.
Open Space Association, and is now celebrated for its diverse habitats ranging from meadows and oak-hickory forests to salt marshes along Palmer Cove. Visitors can enjoy hiking and bicycling on the park's scenic trails, which also provide a direct link via a pedestrian bridge to the adjacent 1,000-acre Bluff Point State Park and Coastal Reserve.
With its mix of historic foundations, peaceful woodlands, and easy coastal access, the park serves as a popular destination for nature enthusiasts, dog walkers, and those looking to explore a unique piece of Connecticut's agricultural and environmental history.
