Park
James Island Marine State Park is a 113-acre island park in San Juan County, Washington, USA, located in Rosario Strait just off the eastern shore of Decatur Island, about three miles west of Anacortes.
Accessible only by boat, it offers 12,335 feet of saltwater shoreline, 13 primitive campsites across three areas including the Saddle with six sites, a dock at West Cove, four offshore mooring buoys for vessels under 45 feet, composting toilets, picnic shelters, and 1.5 miles of bluff-top loop trails providing stunning western views of the San Juan Islands.
Much of the island is preserved as a Natural Forest Area closed to public access, supporting pristine ecosystems for birdwatching, whale observation, crabbing, oystering, salmon and bottom fishing, while cautioning visitors about steep rocky bluffs and swift deep waters.
