Located about 40 miles south of Soldotna near the historic Russian-settled village founded in the early 1800s, it's renowned for strong salmon runs in Ninilchik River drawing anglers for king, silver, and pink salmon, plus clamming, beachcombing, and wildlife viewing of moose, bears, eagles amid stunning inlet views of volcanoes and mountains.
Open May through September, it provides peaceful forested and bluff-top settings for fishing from platforms, hiking to overlooks, boating, and family recreation in a scenic area steeped in Alaska Native and Russian heritage.
