Oasis State Park is a 193-acre oasis in the Llano Estacado plains of eastern New Mexico, located 7 miles north of Portales in Roosevelt County at 4,058 feet elevation amid cottonwood trees, shifting sand dunes, and a small fishing lake stocked with catfish and trout.
Established in 1961, it draws visitors for year-round fishing, hiking on dune trails where lizards and snakes thrive, birdwatching with over 80 species, picnicking, playgrounds, and a ballfield, plus a visitor center with exhibits. Camping options include 44 developed sites—some with 50-amp electric and water hookups—a handicap-accessible site, group shelters, hot showers, flush and vault toilets, and an RV dump station.
