Park
Olmstead Place Historical State Park is a 217-acre day-use park in Kittitas County, Washington, USA, about two miles east of Ellensburg, preserving an original 1875 pioneer homestead along Taneum Creek.
Pioneers Samuel and Sarah Olmstead settled here from Illinois, initially raising grain and beef cattle before switching to dairy farming in 1892 to supply butter to Seattle markets after the railroad arrived, with three generations farming the land until donating it to the state in 1968.
The site features a restored log cabin, 1908 red hay barn, outbuildings, antique farm equipment, interpretive trails through fields and woods, picnic areas, and wildlife viewing, offering a living museum of central Washington agriculture added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.
