Park

Penwood State Park covers 787 acres on Talcott Mountain in Bloomfield, Connecticut, adjacent to Talcott Mountain State Park.

Donated in 1944 by industrialist, inventor, and outdoorsman Curtis H. Veeder—who blazed many of its original trails and named Lake Louise after his wife—the park preserves its natural state with no ground fires, horses, or camping allowed.

It features eight hiking trails including the Metacomet Trail, picnic areas, bike-accessible paved roads, scenic ponds like Lake Louise and Penwood Pond, and stunning vistas of the Farmington River Valley, especially vibrant with spring wildflowers and fall foliage.
