Park
Saltwater State Park is a 137-acre marine recreation area in Des Moines, King County, Washington, just two miles from Interstate 5 between Seattle and Tacoma, featuring 1,445 feet of Puget Sound shoreline with sandy beaches, rocky tide pools, and forested ravines carved by salmon-spawning McSorley Creek. It boasts Washington's only underwater artificial reef—a thriving habitat for sea stars, urchins, rockfish, and lingcod that draws scuba divers—plus trails for hiking, swimming, kayaking, clamming, birdwatching, picnicking, and wildlife viewing amid second-growth timber. Note that beach camping is currently closed due to flooding and erosion with no set reopening date, though day-use areas remain open year-round from 8 a.m. to dusk requiring a Discover Pass.
