The Wind River Range in western Wyoming is a rugged mountain range that stretches approximately 100 miles northwest to southeast and forms part of the Continental Divide.
It contains Gannett Peak, the highest point in Wyoming at 13,804 feet, along with more than 40 other peaks exceeding 13,000 feet. The range is known for its dramatic granite peaks, alpine meadows, and over 1,300 named lakes, including seven of the ten largest glaciers in the Rocky Mountains. It is encompassed mostly by Shoshone and Bridger-Teton National Forests and includes three wilderness areas, making it a key part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
