Park
Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park spans 1,176 acres in Tallahassee, Florida, USA, renowned for its 28-acre formal gardens planted starting in 1923 by New York financier Alfred B. Maclay and his wife Louise as their winter retreat. The gardens feature picturesque brick walkways, a secret garden, reflection pool, walled garden, hundreds of camellias and azaleas peaking from late February to late March, plus native and exotic plants blending in steephead ravines between Lake Hall and Lake Overstreet. Donated to the state in 1953 and renamed in Maclay's honor, the park offers hiking and biking on 11 miles of trails, swimming, kayaking, fishing at the lakes, picnicking, and tours of the historic Maclay House museum during bloom season from January to April.
