Park
Blackwater River State Park covers about 590 acres in Santa Rosa County near Milton, Florida, USA, along one of the nation's purest sand-bottom rivers with tannic-stained waters, white sandbars, and surrounding longleaf pine forests.
Established in 1967 and certified as a Registered State Natural Feature in 1980, it protects rich biodiversity including 300 bird species, rare red-cockaded woodpeckers, a Florida Champion Atlantic white cedar tree, and imperiled plants amid the world's largest remaining longleaf pine/wiregrass ecosystem.
Visitors enjoy canoeing and kayaking on 31 miles of the Florida Paddling Trail, hiking forested nature trails, primitive camping, picnicking, tubing, fishing, and wildlife viewing in this pristine Panhandle wilderness open daily from 8 a.m. to sundown.
