Park
Collier-Seminole State Park spans 7,271 acres south of Naples in Collier County, Florida, USA, within one of the world's largest mangrove swamps and the Everglades ecosystem, featuring royal palm hammocks, cypress swamps, salt marshes, and pine flatwoods.
Established in 1947 on land donated after Barron Collier's failed national park vision, it preserves the historic 1924 Bay City Walking Dredge—a National Mechanical Engineering Landmark used to construct the Tamiami Trail—and supports imperiled wildlife like American crocodiles, Florida black bears, Big Cypress fox squirrels, wood storks, and bald eagles.
Visitors enjoy canoeing and kayaking mangrove-lined Blackwater River trails, hiking and biking 7.5 miles of paths, fishing, birdwatching, ranger-led programs, picnicking, and camping at 120 sites amid tropical-temperate habitats.
