Inhabited for over 6,000 years, the site features a historic Old Spanish Sugar Mill from the 1830s turned Civil War grist mill where visitors now cook pancakes on table griddles, plus a massive 600-year-old bald cypress tree, subtropical hammock forests, and archaeological traces of Native American life.
Activities include swimming and snorkeling in the spring pool, canoeing or kayaking the spring run, hiking the 4-mile Wild Persimmon Trail through cypress swamps, guided boat tours to Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge, fishing, picnicking, and birdwatching, open daily from 8 a.m. to sunset.
